Maternity sessions are typically photographed between 27–35 weeks, when your bump is beautifully defined while you’re still comfortable enough to move through the session. I recommend reaching out earlier in pregnancy so we can reserve your session date and begin planning.
Do you photograph pregnancy announcements?
Yes! Pregnancy announcement sessions can be photographed in the studio or outdoors and can include your partner, children, ultrasound photos, or other meaningful details. Sessions can be kept simple and timeless or planned around a specific vision for your announcement.
What should I wear for a maternity or motherhood session?
I recommend soft, neutral tones and simple pieces that photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you and your connection. For maternity sessions, we can also incorporate dresses, draping, or more editorial styling depending on the look you’re drawn to. I can provide styling guides to help with outfit inspiration and coordinating your family, and I’m always happy to help with specific wardrobe questions along the way.
Can my family be included in the session?
Absolutely. Maternity and motherhood sessions can include just you, your children, your partner, or the whole family. We’ll plan your session around the people and connections you most want to document.
Where do maternity and motherhood sessions take place?
Sessions can take place in my Clear Lake studio, outdoors throughout the Clear Lake and North Iowa area, or in your home. We’ll choose a setting based on the season, your family, and the overall look and feel you’re drawn to.
What if my children need breaks during the session?
That’s completely okay. Sessions with little ones are intentionally relaxed and leave room for breaks, snacks, movement, and time to warm up. I follow their lead while gently guiding the session so we can capture natural connection without forcing moments.

There really isn’t a wrong time. Motherhood sessions can document everything from the baby and toddler years to older children and all the stages in between. If there’s a season you know you want to remember, I recommend reaching out early so we can find a date and begin planning.
