Oliver’s Fresh 48 newborn photography session took place at MercyOne Medical Center, where his parents soaked in those first quiet moments with their brand new baby boy. The hours after welcoming a baby are full of emotion, and documenting these early memories allows families to preserve the tiny details they never want to forget. Fresh 48 newborn sessions are all about storytelling and capturing the beginning of a family’s newest chapter in a natural and meaningful way.


It was also so special to reconnect with an old friend during such an important season of life. Sessions like this are always meaningful, but photographing someone I know personally made the experience even more memorable. It was wonderful catching up while documenting these quiet, early newborn moments.


Oliver was calm and content throughout his session, happily snuggled in his parents’ arms while they admired every tiny feature. The soft hospital light created the most beautiful atmosphere for capturing these early memories, from his tiny fingers to the quiet moments his parents spent simply taking it all in.


One of the sweetest moments during the session was watching Oliver’s older brother admire him. He carefully studied his new baby brother with wide eyes, beginning to understand his new role as a big sibling. Those first introductions between siblings are always some of the most meaningful moments during a Fresh 48 session in North Iowa. They capture the beginning of a lifelong bond, and it is a privilege to document that for families.


Baby Oliver is already so deeply loved, and it was such a joy to capture the beginning of his story. Congratulations to this wonderful family as they start this beautiful new chapter together.
